Together, the three musicians amalgamate their qualities to form an entertaining musical ménage à trois and demonstrate stylistic versatility in the process, a high level of virtuosity and enormous joy at playing, with a repertoire that consists of Gypsy Swing, Brazilian Choro, Italian and Classical Music. Harmonies are woven together with elegance, the melody passes skillfully between the mandolins and the guitar. This makes “Mando Nuevo” a musical delight that is bound to thrill acoustic music fans. The Trio ‘Mando Nuevo’ brings together three virtuosos with the idea of making music that is both energetic and refined. Their repertoire includes the classic as well as the eclectic, representing the best of Brazilian culture, while also attentive to influences from other cultures. Mando Nuevo is an exceptional group from D/NL, formed by three virtuosos with great musical sensitivity. Here, Oliver Waitze (Acoustic Guitars & Mandolins), Marijke Wiesenekker (mandolins) and Michiel Wiesenekker (Acoustic Guitars), produce, through a Brazilian view, beautiful arrangements of a rich and varied repertoire. They share mature experience as interpreters, with the drive that only youth and the desire to succeed can provide. * Choro is a style of music from Brazil which first became popular there in the 1920s to '40s, nurtured in the cafés and bistros of Rio de Janeiro and other urban centers. Choro or sometimes chorinho, (referring to individual pieces) has many similarities to ragtime, traditional New Orleans jazz and hot-rhythm music from the United States, but with samba based rhythms played on fretted stringed instruments, and often a single wind instrument. Its roots go back as far as the late 1800's European dance forms, Portuguese ultra-romanticism, and the rhythms of African and indigenous people. The long, highly syncopated and charming melodies reached their zenith in the works of Pixinguinha, Ernesto Nazareth, Jacob do Bandolim, Waldir Azevedo, K-Ximbinho and many others. Although the choro genre includes many songs, it is predominantly an instrumentalist's form played for the love of playing. It survives today in Brazil and internationally, being kept alive by a new generation of players devoted to Brazil's "traditional" jazz.

Oliver Waitze mandolins & acoustic guitars
The Multi-Instrumentalist Oliver Waitze from Germany is one of a rare breed of Flatpickers who bring a strong melodic sense to their music. He has strong background in Bluegrass & New Acoustic Music but you can also hear strains of contemporary Brazilian, Dawg & Gypsy Swing Music in his writing and playing. His main influences on guitar are Tony Rice, Martin Taylor & Django Reinhardt. Oliver also explored the haunting latin sounds of Brazilian choro music inspired by Mike Marshall. Oliver is also co-founder and member of the Duo Vibracao and author of the two books ‘Flatpicking Master Technique’ (2006) & ‘Flatpicker’s Tunebook’ (2007). www.oliver-waitze.de

Marijke
Wiesenekker wurde im Zentrum von Amsterdam geboren. 1991 begann sie
Mandoline zu spielen. Die Freude daran war so groß, dass sie im Jahr
2000 nach Wuppertal zog um an der dortigen Musikhochschule bei Frau
Prof. Marga Wilden-Hüsgen dieses Instrument intensiv zu studieren. Im
Februar 2007 schloss sie ihr Studium mit Erfolg ab. Marijke, born in the Centre of Amsterdam (Netherlands), picked up the mandolin at the age of ten. In 2000, several years later, she started her studies at Conservatory of Music in Wuppertal with professor Marga Wilden-Hüsgen. In February 2007 she finished her Study as performing artist. Her favorite instruments are a classical mandolin built by Reinhold Seiffert and an electric solid body mandolin by Rickenbacker. Marijke also plays baroque mandolin, guitar and bass guitar. Marijke is musicaly inspired by composers such as Gariele Leone and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mandolinists she enclosed into her musical world are Bill Monroe, Dave Apollon, Howard Frey, Yank Rachell and Giovanni Giovale. A colourful range of players marked by their own, personal approach of the mandolin.
Michiel Wiesenekker Michiel
Wiesenekker wurde ebenfalls in Amsterdam geboren. Im Alter von 9 Jahren
griff er zu Gitarre. Nach der Veröffentlichung der ersten CD des
Amsterdams Gitaar & Mandoline Duo zog Michiel 2001 ebenfalls nach
Wuppertal um dort an der Hochschule für Musik Konzertgitarre bei Prof.
Dieter Kreidler zu studieren. Im Jahr 2008 absolvierte er seine
künstlerische Weiterbildung an der Robert Schumann Hochschule bei Prof.
Alexander Sergei Ramirez. Michiel was born in Amsterdam (Netherlands); he started to play the guitar with nine years old. 2001, after the release of the duos first cd “Wouldn’t Listen”, Michiel followed his sister to study classical guitar with Professor Dieter Kreidler at the Conservatory of Music in Wuppertal. 2008, Michiel completed his master study at the Robert Schumann Conservatory of music in Düsseldorf with Professor Alexander Sergei Ramirez. Michiel plays a classical guitar made by Boguslaw Teryks, a steel string guitar by Martin, a Epiphone Broadway and a baroque guitar by Frank-Peter Dietrich.
